Telephone: 01502 405357
The Records Office Catalogue Accession numbers for each of
our parishes are as follows:
NOTE The prefix for Baptism, Marriage and Funeral registers is D1. Therefore, as an example, the number for the Baptism registers for Rumburgh would be: 141/D1/ ... followed by the item number for the particular register. The Rector of the Benefice holds a detailed list of registers deposited with the Records Office and their Catalogue number, as well as register transcripts.
ALSO Thanks to members of the Lowestoft Group of the Suffolk Family History Society, who have spent hours groping through the undergrowth in our churchyards, we also now hold a transcript of Headstone and church Memorial inscriptions for all our parishes: HOW TO SEARCH Searches can be made by the Rector for any names in the records at the following authorised rates: For searches in Registers of Marriage for the period before 1 July 1837, £18 for the first hour or part thereof, and £15 for every subsequent hour or part thereof. For searches in Baptism or Burial Registers (including the provision of one copy of any entry therein) for the first hour or part thereof, £18. For every subsequent hour or part thereof, £15. For each additional copy of an entry in a Register of Baptism or Burial, £18. If you wish to make an enquiry regarding a Catalogue Accession number for a specific date in any of our parishes, or for any details of a church or churchyard memorial in the above listed parishes, or arrange a search of the registers, please send an e-mail in the first instance to rhpt@pharisaios.co.uk putting "Register Search" in the subject line. Alternatively, you may telephone on 01986 781345. Donations to Benefice funds are welcome. They may be sent to the Rector at Parsonage House, Low Street, Ilketshall St. Margaret, Bungay, Suffolk, NR35 1QZ. Cheques should be made payable to "Benefice of South Elmham & Ilketshall".
